Project Overview
cali

The College Ridge faculty housing residential development consists of two multifamily structures on an approximately 2-acre hillside property with associated streets, underground utilities, retaining walls, and bioretention areas. The geotechnical evaluation involved a comprehensive field exploration and detailed analyses to provide hillside grading, foundation, retaining wall, and other development design and construction recommendations. Project challenges included large areas varying soil/rock conditions, high ground motions, large civil cuts/fills, unique bioretention basin design, and retaining wall height constraints.

ENGEO’S ROLE

In addition to geotechnical engineering, ENGEO provided the following services for the project:

  • Preparation of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
  • Development and implementation of an Asbestos Dust Mitigation Plan (ADMP) approved by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD)
  • Testing and observation services during grading and improvements construction
  • Special Inspection services for the post-tensioned mat foundations and vertical structural elements
  • SWPPP implementation

The public project, located on a parcel east of Skyline College, is being constructed concurrently with a neighboring private residential development. The College Ridge project will provide affordable housing for faculty of San Mateo County Community College District
