ENGEO’S Leadership Team Expands in 2021

ENGEO announces new Principals and Associates

ENGEO announces new leaders to serve clients and staff including two Principals, and six Associates. Last year ENGEO continued to grow steadily with the opening of offices in Brisbane Australia, Seattle Washington, and Guam. In 2021, ENGEO will open an office in San Diego, California.

NEW PRINCIPALS

Leroy Chan, GE, LEED AP, Principal – Oakland, California

Leroy Chan ENGEO PrincipalLeroy has been named Principal and is based in the Oakland office. His professional geotechnical engineering experience involves serving high-profile public and private projects including infrastructure, public facilities, large waterfront developments, commercial developments, levees, educational facilities, airports, transit centres, and medical care facilities. Leroy has extensive knowledge of San Francisco Bay engineering practices. He specializes in ground improvement and deep foundation engineering on sites with historic fill, liquefiable, and compressible soil.

Karen Jones, CEnvP, Principal – Wellington, New Zealand 

Karen has been named Principal. She is an experienced Engineering Geologist and leads ENGEO’s Wellington office. She is experienced in geotechnical, geological, and environmental assessments. Her experience covers a wide range of projects, including infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential developments.

I look forward to helping and growing the future leaders of our business by continuing to be the best leader I can be. I will work hard to elevate myself and those around me to meet the upcoming challenges of 2021 and beyond.”

NEW ASSOCIATES

Bahareh Heidarzadeh,  PhD, PE, Associate – San Ramon, California

Bahareh ENGEO AssociateBahareh has been named Associate. Bahareh joined ENGEO in 2016. She specializes in earthquake engineering, soil-structure interaction, finite-element analysis, and foundation design. She has advanced ENGEO’s capabilities in seismic hazard and site-response analyses and ground-motion studies. She has served many high-profile projects throughout California and New Zealand. She played an instrumental role in ENGEO’s implementation of non-ergodic site response in seismic hazard analysis.

I am honored by this opportunity and very excited about the challenge. In my opinion, there is a potential leader in everyone. My goal is to help individuals reach their full potential, make our ENGEO family stronger technically and culturally, and continue providing world-class services to our clients.”

Nadine Periat, PG, Associate – San Jose, California

Nadine Periat, ENGEO AssociateNadine has been named Associate. She joined ENGEO in 2018 and specializes in environmental site assessment and remediation for a variety of land developers, tech firms and public entities. She is focused on vapor intrusion evaluations and mitigation during a rapidly changing time in vapor intrusion regulations. Nadine is a registered Geologist and assists in geologic hazard evaluations and studies.

Josh Armstrong, RPGeo,  Associate – Brisbane, Australia 

Josh Armstrong, ENGEO Associate, BrisbaneJosh has been named Associate. He has more than twelve year’s professional geotechnical experience working for both ENGEO and Department of Transport and Main Roads in Australia. Josh has extensive experience in the road infrastructure sector, specializing in geotechnical site investigations, geological modelling, slope risk assessments and project management.

I take huge pride in becoming an Associate of this great company. I am extremely fortunate to have such a strong leadership team around me, and look forward to the challenges that 2021 will surely throw at us. 2021 is going to be our best year yet!

Catherine Loye, Associate – Adelaide, Australia 

Catherine has been named Associate. She is an engineering geologist who has worked at ENGEO for over ten years. Until 2017, Catherine was based in the Christchurch office before moving to Australia where she provided remote support to ENGEO in New Zealand and began to establish an operation for ENGEO in Adelaide.

I am excited to accept the invitation to be an Associate at ENGEO and honored that my colleagues believe in my ability to grow as a leader. I anticipate the role will reveal new challenges and I look forward to supporting the ENGEO team in their professional endeavors.”

Max McLean, CMEngNZ, Associate – Tauranga, New Zealand

ENGEO New Zealand Associate Max McLeanMax has been named Associate. Based in Tauranga he focuses on geotechnical site assessments including geological and geomorphological mapping, slope stability assessments and analysis, liquefaction analysis, earthworks testing, observation, and general project management.

2020 was a year of change in Tauranga, welcoming our new office space, lots of talented new people, a new office leader, and a brand new addition to my family. Forward workloads have never looked better and the team is stronger and more resilient than I could have imagined when I started this office three years ago. A big part of that is due to the support of ENGEO – I feel that our company is unique in how management uplift, recognise and promote staff without hiding behind red tape. I’m certainly thrilled to be offered this great opportunity, particularly as it came as such a surprise!

Dustin Tookey, CMEngNZ, Associate – Auckland, New Zealand

ENGEO Auckland Dustin Tookey, AssociateDustin has been named Associate. Working in the Auckland office, he has more than 15 years of experience working as a Geotechnical Engineer in New Zealand and London. Dustin has worked across the full lifecycle of projects as well as a wide range of projects from residential subdivisions and large scale commercial developments through to large infrastructure projects.
